Hey everyone,
Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to our last meeting of the semester, so I missed out on the good-byes and all of that good stuff.
I graduated this semester, which means I'm peacing out for the time being. I took a job (and as of last week, bought a house!) down in Tucson, so I'll be moving down there at the end of this month. This is good news though, since I'll still be competing in events in this region, where I'm sure I'll run into some of you. Even better - now that I'm done with school I should finally have some time to get serious about training! That means no more going into races feeling totally unprepared (Gabi knows I always rant about this). Actually, I'll probably always feel that way, but at least now I have no excuse...
Most of you are probably heart broken by the news of my departure - but don't worry - you can still see me at the following events this year!
Flagstaff Barn Burner, 06/21. Mountain bike race Josh and I (aka the Sprocket Rockets) are teaming up for. It's not too late to sign up, or just come out for the weekend if you like beer and/or camping.
Nathan Tempe Triathlon, 09/27. This ones still up in the air depending on my schedule. If a lot of you are doing it though I'll probably try to make it.
Soma Triathlon, 10/25. Fun race, I'll be back this year, and hopefully have to pee fewer times on the bike leg (subsequently shaving several minutes!)
El Tour de Tucson, 11/21. Pretty big, well organized road biking race around the perimeter of Tucson.
Tucson Marathon, 12/13. Fast course from what I've heard. Josh qualified for Boston here, right?
And, I'm going to volunteer at the Tempe Ironman so that I can hopefully secure entrance for next year, so if any of you want to hand out some gel packets (or whatever all of the rookie volunteers get to do), you should join me.
That's all I've got for now. Let me know if there are some other awesome events you all are participating in (except the Bilby Footrace, which, although totally awesome, probably doesn't merit a 250 mile drive up to Flag), and I'll try to fit it in.
Good luck to all of you with your training, competition, and education! Finally, a big thanks to Gabi for kick starting the Trijacks. She has done a great job with the club, and we all owe her thanks for that. Your hard work is appreciated Gabi.
I'll keep checking this boards for a while, but if you want to reach me, I'm much more likely to see something on facebook (www.facebook.com/groll).
Later!
